Correspondence, diaries, wills, inventories of estates, financial records, daguerreotypes, drawings, clippings and genealogies of three branches and of seventeen individual members of the Wells family, whose founder William Wells migrated to Brattleboro, Vermont, from England in 1793. Major figures in the papers are Jane Wells Howard Green (1808-1884), Edward Watkins Wells (1819-1898) and James Hancox Wells (1774-1857).
